Owner-Led Professional Detailing
Donnie Ham began detailing professionally at Wilburn Auto Body Shop in Gastonia in 1999. He officially opened Firestone Auto Detail in 2005 and built the business through repeat customers, word-of-mouth referrals, dealership relationships, and consistent hands-on workmanship—not through a large advertising operation.
The Firestone Story
Firestone Auto Detail did not begin as a marketing concept. It grew from Donnie’s hands-on detailing experience, his reputation for careful work, and customers who continued to return and recommend him.
In 1999, Donnie began working professionally at Wilburn Auto Body Shop in Gastonia. That environment gave him experience around repaired, refinished, and customer-owned vehicles where presentation and attention to detail mattered.
In 2005, he officially opened Firestone Auto Detail. Since then, the business has served both retail customers and dealership accounts from its Gastonia shop while also adapting to mobile and on-site work when business needs required it.
Today, Firestone remains owner-led. Donnie is directly involved in evaluating vehicles, recommending services, completing or overseeing the work, and checking the final result.
Experience Across Many Vehicle Types
Firestone’s experience is not limited to one kind of customer or one type of vehicle. Over the years, Donnie has worked across a broad mix of retail, dealership, commercial, classic, performance, and specialty vehicles.

How Firestone Developed
The website distinguishes between Donnie’s professional experience and the year Firestone Auto Detail officially opened.
Donnie begins working as a professional detailer at Wilburn Auto Body Shop in Gastonia and builds practical experience caring for customer vehicles.
Donnie establishes Firestone Auto Detail and begins building the business through personal service, repeat customers, referrals, and dealership relationships.
Firestone continues serving Gastonia-area retail customers and dealership accounts with condition-based recommendations and hands-on quality control.
The Firestone Standard
Recommendations are grounded in professional detailing experience dating to 1999, not in a one-size-fits-all package menu.
Firestone explains what a service can realistically improve and where damage, wear, or condition may limit the result.
The goal is a clean, refined, properly presented vehicle—not a rushed surface shine that disappears after a few hours.
Customers work with an owner-led local business where the person recommending the service is accountable for the final result.
Real Firestone Projects
Firestone’s reputation has been built through the work itself. These are real vehicles completed by Firestone Auto Detail in Gastonia.
